Week 4: Buckets Corral the Stallions, 56-11
Los Angeles- It wasn't supposed to be this ugly. The
Stuttgart Stallions came to town looking to get 2 wins in a row over the Buckets after
upsetting them last year 28-10. Instead L.A. dominated in a huge blowout 56-11.
"Hey man believe it or not we were NOT trying to rub it in either!" Buckets
Coach Tando said. "I had him on the phone saying 'I am just running the clock out'
and I called no passes after early in the 3rd QTR - but my back-up RB ran all over them
and scored at will- and our D had 4 INT's and a safety too- we were both just laughing
about it on the phone!!"
After L.A. took a 26-3 lead early in the 3rd Quarter, Coach Tando decided to pull his
starting RB Anthony Wolf (21 carreis for 144 yards) and just keep it on the ground - but
back-up RB Scott Lyle busted out with an amazing performance in mop-up duty (19 carries
for 154 yards and 4 TD's)
Lyle was amazed, "The holes were there. I just broke a few tackles outside and it was
'green light' for the End Zone!" he said.
The Buckets scored a WFFL-record 56 points but 2 of them came on a Safety on the
next-to-last play of the game and 12 more came from conservative FG's. Stuttgart Coach
Buck said in the 3rd Quarter as the game was getting out of hand, "Bring it on! I'm
only 30 points down - I am going to win this game!" So despite going conservative,
L.A. just got all of the breaks and cruised to the big win.
Thanx again for the game, Buck!
Cheers,
Jay
